Tool Wall

One of the main features in the MakerSpace is the giant tool wall. At eight feet tall & 16 feet wide, this wall houses all of the small hand and power tools required to complete virtually any Maker project the students have.

Throughout their Middle School years, students are trained to use a variety of tools and earn badges to signify their proficiency with each one. With the tools readily accessible, students can confidently use them, not only for their Design class projects but for assignments in other subjects as well. This badge system encourages independence and skill-building across disciplines, as well as confidence the students know how to safely use the tools.

The wall was constructed using a French Cleat system, allowing various fixtures to be easily moved and rearranged by simply lifting the brackets. The only semi-fixed elements are the vertical computer station, used to manage the tool check-out system, and the battery charging station.
